In a significant move to enhance Egypt’s international academic collaboration, the Egyptian Cultural and Educational Bureau in Washington, D.C. proudly witnessed the signing of a strategic agreement between the University of Louisville and 12 Egyptian public and national universities to launch a joint academic track for a Master of Science in Engineering.
During an official visit by a delegation of university presidents to the University of Louisville in Kentucky, the agreement was signed to allow students to complete 6 credit hours in their Egyptian universities before transferring to the U.S. to pursue 24 additional credit hours, ultimately earning a master’s degree in various engineering disciplines.
Participating Egyptian universities included:
Alamein International University, Alexandria, Assiut, Mansoura, Menoufia, Benha, and their respective national universities.
Attending the ceremony were:
Prof. Dr. Essam El-Kurdi (Alamein International University)
Prof. Dr. Abdelaziz Qonswa (Alexandria University)
Prof. Dr. Ahmed El-Kased (Menoufia University)
Prof. Dr. Moawad El-Khouly (New Mansoura University)
Prof. Dr. Nasser El-Gizawy (Benha University)
And Prof. Dr. Nermine Sabry, Egyptian Cultural and Educational Attaché, who proudly represented the Ministry and witnessed the signing.
The agreement aims to:
Expand graduate-level academic exchange
Foster collaborative research in priority disciplines
Enable faculty and student mobility
Align Egyptian higher education with international standards
This flexible academic pathway, though not a dual-degree program, offers Egyptian students the opportunity to earn a prestigious U.S. degree while maintaining strong ties to their home institutions.
The Egyptian Cultural Bureau extends its profound gratitude to the University of Louisville and to Dr. Ayman El-Baz and his dedicated team for their outstanding efforts in making this collaboration possible.
