The Egyptian Cultural and Educational Bureau (ECEB) in Washington, D.C., was delighted to attend the "Children's Africana Book Awards", celebrating outstanding children's literature that brings African stories, cultures, and heritage to young readers.

We were particularly proud to celebrate the recognition of “Umm Kulthum,” written by Rhonda Roumani and beautifully illustrated by talented Egyptian artist Ahmed Abdelmohsen.

The book introduces young readers to the remarkable legacy of Umm Kulthum, one of Egypt's most iconic cultural figures, whose extraordinary voice and artistic influence continue to resonate across generations and borders.

This recognition highlights the power of children's literature and illustration in preserving cultural heritage, inspiring young minds, and introducing Egyptian creativity to international audiences.
